About the Speaker:
Haidt is a social psychologist whose research on morality across cultures led up to his much-quoted 2008 TEDTalk on the psychological roots of the American culture war. He's also active in the study of positive psychology and human flourishing. Connection:
Hadit's talks about how religion creates a tight community like in The Crucible, everyone is aware of what everyone else is doing. Religion has a great impact on the community for the fact that they all believe one thing. In a way its as if believing something that doesn't have to do with religion is bad. In The Crucible religion causes people to not trust anyone, because they might be witches. In the play i believe they raise there children in religion so they actually have something to believe in. |
